This popular magazine began to publish engravings after ‘Daguerreotype Miniatures’ in the the August 1842 issue. From 1844 on, a great many illustrations after daguerreotypes appeared in American journals and books. A number of competent artists translated the images onto steel plates for printing, using line, stipple, and mezzotint engraving techniques.
