Schneider et Cie, also known as Schneider-Creusot for its birthplace in the French town of Le Creusot, was a historic French iron and steel company which became a major arms manufacturer. This catalog of their armory equipment from 1894 spared no expense in showcasing their wide range of canons. Many of the well executed photogravures show signs of hand work, resulting in a look and feel that seems contradictory to the sober subject matter and exemplifying the limitations still plaguing the integration of photography into fine printing late into the 19th century.
