Sir Fredrick Leighton P.R.A. Walery (Stanislaw Julian Ignacy) (British, 1863-1935)

Elliot and Fry were eminent portrait photographers who had a number of studios. Their portraits were reproduced subtlety and great skill by Maclure, Macdonald and Co., photo-engravers of Glasgow. The work from which this portrait is taken is Art and Literature, published monthly. Each part cost one shilling and had a photogravure frontispiece; Art and Literature is representative of the fine art periodicals produced in the closing decades of the nineteenth century.
