This topographic and surgical manual on the inner ear, also called labyrinth, was groundbreaking. It is considered the first manual about the anatomy and pathologies of the inner ear.
Accompanying the precise observations, clinical facts and comprehensive descriptions of the region are life size photographs from the author’s preparations of exo-cranial dissections of labyrinth pathology; Printed in photogravure, each sample is presented with a stereoscopic – making it possible to appreciate the topography of the samples. Overlaying each photogravure is an illustrated tissue identifying key elements of the photograph.
A very practical and interesting volume for both students and professionals. Louis Girard won an award of the French Academy of Medicine in 1912 for the project.
