This print appeared in the 1857 periodical, Musée des Familles. The caption reads Pavillion centrálnord de la cour Napoléon III, photographiè sur bois par Lallemand, d’après M. Baldus which translates to "Central pavilion of the Napoleon III court, photographed on wood by Lallemand, after M. Baldus ". The process is called Photoxylography and is defined as the process of producing a representation of an object on wood, by photography, for the use of the wood engraver.
