On the House-boat – “The Log Cabin” Steichen, Edward (American, 1879-1973)

The Log Cabin was the houseboat of retired British Kodak Managing Director and photographer George Davison. It was moored in front of The White House built for Davison by designer George Walton at Shiplake, four miles upstream from Henley-on-Thames. The houseboat can be seen in the background of the photograph The White House taken by James Craig Annan in July, 1909 which appeared in Camera Work XXXII, 1910.
