Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934) was a French architect. In 1877, he won the Grand Prix de Rome. Upon his return to France, he began a career as an architect of civil buildings and national palaces. By 1882, he won the competition for the construction of the new Sorbonne in Paris, which would be his greatest work.
These photogravures by Dujardin reflect the state of the art of photogravure at the turn of the century. Similar in scope and quality to the architectural photogravures produced by Otto Schmidt in Austria, these prints demonstrate the full potential of the process in conveying the ambiance and exactitude of such sublime structures and spaces.
