 Ito, Eijiro (Japanese, b.b.1971)

As a printmaker and artist, I have always pursued the meaning of the term ‘reproduced.’ In my work photographs and engravings have symbolically coexisted to question concepts of duplication and the consumer society in which we live. With this as my inspiration, I create work employing the craftmanship of ink and press. The camera freeze-frames, the world around us, the engraving – an action – the fine scratches on a copper plate, accessing my memories. Eijiro Ito is Japanese born and currently resides in France. His plates are from polymer film adhered to steel plates.
