Eglise de Saint Julien Baldus, Edouard (French, 1813-1889)

In 1875, Baldus revisited his own negatives to publish his most “photographic” album Les Principaux Monuments de la France. Héliogravures par Edouard Baldus planned to be composed of three parts of twenty prints, at the price of 80 francs per part. Some copies in the title the address of the Vve A. Morelet. Advertised to contain three series of 20 photogravures, no known copy contains more than 45 plates in total.

Large and beautiful. Some of the best examples of Baldus’ photogravure process.
